비즈니스 영어에서 자주 쓰는 표현들이지만, 모국어식 직역이나 어색한 문장 구조로 인해 원어민이 이해하기 어려운 경우가 많습니다. 특히 회의 중, 발표 준비, 일정 변경 등 실무에 밀접한 주제일수록 더 자연스럽고 정확한 표현이 필요한데요, 저도 너무 익숙하지 않다보니 교정을 받으며 알게 된 표현들도 많습니다.

11. 클라이언트와의 반복 회의

• ❌ I had a lot of meeting with a client.
• ✅ I had back-to-back meetings with a client.
  → “a lot of meeting”은 문법적으로도 어색하며, 실제로 연속된 회의가 있었다면 “back-to-back meetings”가 자연스러움.

12. 첫 만남 언급

• ❌ In the first point we meet each other.
• ✅ We were meeting for the first time.
  → “In the first point”은 어색한 표현. 자연스럽게 과거 시제 혹은 진행형으로 “It was our first time meeting”도 가능.

13. 어려운 주제에 대한 설명

• ❌ It is difficult topics for me
• ✅ It was a difficult topic for me to discuss
  → “topics”는 복수형이지만 문맥상 특정 주제를 말하므로 단수 사용. “to discuss”로 문장을 마무리해 의미 명확화.

• ❌ I realized this schedule yesterday.
• ✅ I only discovered the packed schedule yesterday.
  → 단순히 “realized”보다, “discovered the packed schedule”이 더 자연스럽고 구체적.
  • I didn’t realize how tight my schedule was until yesterday.

• ❌ I'm not professional for rescheduling and I was arrogant and I think I could take tons of classes in this one week.
• ✅ I was a bit reckless when it came to rescheduling my classes. I was confident in thinking that I could manage all scheduled classes in a short period of time.
  → 자기 반성을 담은 표현은 “reckless”나 “confident”를 사용해 부드럽고 명확하게 정리 가능.

  → 경험에 대한 표현은 단순 설명보다 감정을 담아주는 것이 자연스러움. “awkward”, “strange introduction” 등을 활용.
